Initial Set Up for
Outlook Express:
This section describes
the initial setup for Outlook Express. If you are using
Outlook Express for the first time, the program should
take you through a wizard to set up your e-mail account.
If it doesn’t automatically take you through the wizard,
then follow these steps:
1.
Click the Tools menu.
2.
Click Accounts menu option.
3.
Click the Mail tab.
4.
Click the Add button.
5.
Click the Mail.. menu option. The Internet
Connection Wizard window appears.
6.
Enter your name. This will be the name that the
recipient of your email will see.
7.
Click the Next button.
8.
Select the I already have an e-mail address that
I’d like to use option.
9.
Enter your e-mail address (i.e. username@rockbridge.net).
10.
Click the Next button.
Note: Be sure the
incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
11.
Enter mail.rockbridge.net for the incoming
mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server field.
12.
Enter mail.rockbridge.net for the outgoing
mail (SMTP) server field.
13.
Click the Next button.
14.
Enter the password only if you want the computer to
remember your password for you.
15.
Click the Next button.
16.
Click the Finish button.
Initial Set Up for
Netscape Mail:
To set up the email
settings in Netscape or Netscape Communicator:
1.
Click the Edit menu.
2.
Select the Preferences option. The Preferences
page appears.
3.
Expand the Mail & Newsgroups section by
clicking on it.
4.
Click the Mail Servers option.
5.
Select the appropriate incoming mail server.
6.
Click the Add button.
7.
On the General tab, enter the server name is
correct, and verify that the Server Type is a POP3 server.
8.
Enter the User ID.
9.
Click the OK button to return to the Mail
Servers option.
10.
Verify that the user has the correct settings for
the outgoing server.
11.
Click the OK button to close the Preferences
page.
